El alcalde, <strong>Antonio Franc\u00e9s<\/strong>, fue el encargado de recoger la distinci\u00f3n, en <strong>un acto en el que tambi\u00e9n fueron galardonadas Val\u00e8ncia y Gandia<\/strong>. Ambas ciudades, al igual que Alcoy, <strong>acogen un Campus de la UPV<\/strong>.\u00a0En el acto se record\u00f3 a los <strong>diez rectores<\/strong> que dirigieron la instituci\u00f3n en alg\u00fan momento de su historia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El rector dela UPV, <strong>Francisco Mora<\/strong>, destac\u00f3 en la ceremonia <strong>el importante papel<\/strong> que tiene la Universidad como <strong>motor transformador de la sociedad<\/strong> y defendi\u00f3 &#8220;<em>un sistema de educaci\u00f3n superior p\u00fablico estable, con objetivos a largo plazo. Un pacto de Estado no condicionado por los avatares pol\u00edticos<\/em>&#8220;, indic\u00f3. Tambi\u00e9n abog\u00f3 por <strong>la uni\u00f3n<\/strong> &#8220;<em>para hacer frente a los retos del ma\u00f1ana, para dar respuesta a las nuevas necesidades, para competir con los mejores centros del mundo y para ganar el futuro.
