Hemos comparado adem\u00e1s los datos con los que se registran en otras poblaciones vecinas de la comarca.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alcoy <strong>pierde poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. Cada a\u00f1o son menos las personas que residen en la ciudad. En los \u00faltimos 26 a\u00f1os, en concreto, 1.516 ciudadanos menos. Y es que <strong>el municipio ha pasado de tener 60.476 habitantes en 1996 a tener 58.960 en 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Perder poblaci\u00f3n significa que cada vez son m\u00e1s las personas que se marchan fuera de la ciudad y que las que llegan no son suficientes para cubrir las p\u00e9rdidas. Sin embargo, no es esta la tendencia que siguen la gran mayor\u00eda de municipios de un tama\u00f1o similar de la Comunitat Valenciana. <strong>Alcoy es la localidad de m\u00e1s de 30.000 habitantes que m\u00e1s habitantes ha perdido<\/strong>. Y es que todas crecen, excepto <strong>Elda<\/strong> y nuestra ciudad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Vila-Real<\/strong>, por ejemplo, ha pasado de los 40.124 ciudadanos en 1996 a los 51.369 en 2022. M\u00e1s significativo ha sido el crecimiento de <strong>Sagunto<\/strong>. La localidad valenciana tiene ahora 68.066 habitantes, mientras que hace 26 a\u00f1os ten\u00eda 56.607. Pero, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 no sigue Alcoy la misma tendencia que la mayor\u00eda de municipios? Causas hay muchas, pero destaca, entre otras, <strong>el problema con las comunicaciones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Los transportes son important\u00edsimos para que una poblaci\u00f3n evolucione econ\u00f3micamente, industrialmente y, por supuesto, poblacionalmente&#8221;, explica <strong>Pedro Parra<\/strong>, ge\u00f3grafo e historiador, en declaraciones a <strong>Cope Alcoy<\/strong>. Y a\u00f1ade: &#8220;El problema de las comunicaciones de Alcoy ha sido algo hist\u00f3rico. Lo hemos ido superando, pero con retraso. Eso influye en el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y, por extensi\u00f3n, en la poblaci\u00f3n&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Y, en este sentido, que Alcoy una <strong>ciudad de interior<\/strong> dificulta las comunicaciones. &#8220;Afecta el hecho de no estar tan bien comunicada como otras, el no estar en la costa y cerca de un puerto o aeropuerto, y el no tener -por ejemplo- un tren de alta velocidad&#8221;, asegura Parra.<\/p>\n<p>Ser un municipio de interior influye, pero no hay que olvidar que <strong>otros muy cercanos a Alcoy -a pesar de ser incluso m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os- tambi\u00e9n han experimentado un crecimiento de su poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. <strong>Ibi<\/strong>, por ejemplo, ha pasado 21.075 habitantes en 1996 a los 23.677 en 2022. Y lo mismo sucede con <strong>Cocentaina<\/strong>.
